Just an idea of mine On Valentine Day

Along the road backing from the office, it seems today was the public holiday with busy streets. Yeah!!! It is Valentine day, February 14, 2011. Most teenagers holding a bunch of roses rode on motorbikes with colorful smile.

Indeed, I was asked by one guy what I think of Valentine day. “My answer is simple”, I said; today is okay for me. I am not a conservative guy. I do say Happy Valentine Day and bought something home today.

Sure, we cannot oppose to Valentine day, and are living in the globalization. If we, just my opinion, intended to omit that day we would live without internet, TVs, languages, cultural exchange etc.

The important point is we must live in the boundary of morality. Individuals should think of what effect of their behaviors. Without morality/education, the globalization might erode our society. Thus, Morality/education and globalization must be laid equally.

I think now Leadership is a popular term for making business, self development, and gaining popularity etc. Yesterday, I listened to radio, which I forgot to remember of its program, and came up with the word “LEADERSHIP” designed as a course study for improving personal growth. Moreover, the same word “LEADERSHIP” appears on my FaceBook page everyday. It seems like we are lack of leadership which we need to learn from its. Suddenly, I ask myself that whether we have leadership. Or “Do I have leadership?”

A couple months ago, I read a book that describe about patron and client perspective in Asia; sorry I do not remember its title. Our idea is to respect the superior. So, it could be a reason that Leadership need to apply in here. By the way, it is not 100% correct, just an idea.

Luckily, I just explored a book title, Developing the Leader within you, from my book shelve and its author is John C. Maxwell. I just a little bit realize my position of leadership. He explained in the book that Leadership is influence. Yesterday, I got a real example about influence. After sending my email at one internet shop then taking my motor, a group of people came next to me and then asked me to vote for Ms. Mu Sohau as a global human right activist. They persuaded me as much as possible; even they really seemed to cry. I started to think myself that “Wow, how great influence she is over a group of people.” They scarified for her. How could she do that? Maybe I need your—readers’ answers.

Through my understanding from the book, I think that leadership applies to every context of life such as family life, career, and social activities so on. It does not mean that leadership applies only to politicians but to everyone. By the way, Leadership means to me is to have vision, problem-solving skill, communication, integrity, initiative idea, and influence. These aspects are very important.

Diary

Date: April 21, 2010

“You should say sth....You should defend yourself” and “You came here to solve the problem not to listen to the problem”, these were the sentences that I was constructively criticized by the people around me. Of course, this is me. I am, sometimes, silent. By the way, I need to accept what they have said to me. One friend said, “When your child needs your advice, you would not to keep silent.” Hit the point. Now it is a time for changing my attitude.

Sic Site....

I have read Rasmei Kampuchea daily newspaper, issued 17 December 2008, on title is the body free of Apsara. It was shocked me… wow what it is. Through out its context, it refers to Apsara. Unbelievable, Unbelievable… This is the innovation?

Apsara is respectful girl carved on Angkor Wat temple’s wall. Moreover, Apsara Dance has been recognized as world intangible heritage.
Of course, I do agree that Apsara’s body is free, no shirt, during that time. But when we look at a new crazy innovation design, it seems that those Apsaras’ faces are passionate (Sic). If we compare to original Apsara status, it does not show sexual feeling on their faces. They smile as respectful Khmer women, moreover, it indicates the meaningful.

I strongly criticize that these designers are changing value of Cambodia culture. They just serve their business, profits only. Maybe they are outside the country for long time and have forgotten what Khmer culture is.
I have some recommendation, we have valuable culture, thus please do not do something confusing to the next generation or other who do not know about Cambodian culture.

Episode 6

Hey this is my last game of the best youth competition. The game is mock trail, mean that we performed fictional case. You know, in this game made me felt unbelievable because it seemed like a real one which had lawyers, judge, defendants, applicants, witnesses. You know, I performed defendant lawyer. Incredible, I did like a real lawyer…Everyone proud of me.

Even though, I did good job but result relief that my group lost. The reason of losing is lack of reason to support our argument. Of course, we were in the defendant side, so it was hard to seek plenty reasons. It seemed to force death to walked for this case, we knew that defendant was completely wrong which defendant borrowed money from applicant but he did not give money back.

Episode 4

This episode is one of hardest game, making spot. Before, just watching on the TVs but I don’t know how to make it. But in this game, they allowed the candidates to create spot which has 30s and focus on youth and election. Of course, it made me dizzy because we didn’t know how to handle with camera. Unbelievable, everything has gone smoothly and we had completed our works successfully. You know I am an actor of my spot….. It made me to become an old man….

The meaning of my spot: our group decided to make scenario, an old man and woman walking and dreaming on country development. This development is come from election which both old man and woman come to vote while they were youths.

As result, our group is lost because the judge thought that it was out of topic. Of course, my group idea is too deep that is hard to know our meaning. What I have learnt from this game?
The judge advise group that we need to fight in the proper point cuz we have only 30s.

Our charity, we went Krou Sar Thmey school teaching children who are blind, deaf, disability person. We bought sport equipments and gave 500$ for the whole school.

Happy Khmer New Year!!!!

Episode 3

Debate is the topic of the third game
I won in this game
Our program buy too many books for giving to school which locates in Kandal province. I am sorry that I don’t remember name of the school. This school has a small library which has not too much books. Of course, faces of these children seem to be happy.

Episode 2

“To be a blog instructor”, before I was an unknown person of blog information. Later on, one man name SAR Chesda tough me how to manage and post blog. Actually, I updated my ability of blog while I was using internet free at LRC, Learning Resource Center.
Now, on this game, they allowed all candidates to instruct people to have own blog. We did the same thing, we were divided into two groups. I was in Bassac group, that our strategy is finding the popular and high-speed internet cafĂ©. Of course, we set a good strategy that there were too many people waiting and making blog. As a result, my group lost other group. You know what are the main mistakes “careless attention”. We made nearly 50 blogs but only 19 blogs which were corrective blogs that consistent to program condition.

Entrance of Kdey Takoy

My group

I am teaching to create a blog

What have I learned from this game? Everything is important in our works, even though it looks like a small thing but It can cause you have trouble. One theory said “one nail can make nation die”.

Youth Leadership Challenge has bought two new computers to Kdey Takoy secondary school. This school is a new recently construction which have not had enough equipments for office work.

Episode 1: To be a seller

“To be brave and clever” is a concept of this first series of the contest. I was a seller who sold souvenirs of FRIEND organization. First of all, I intend to give some information of FRIEND organization.

This NGO, its aim to help street children and youth, who addict drug or live on the street, moreover they assist poor communities which family standard is in anarchy. How does FRIEND org help? Of course, they teach those poor communities with easy job and catchable lesson. They use the recycle things like thrown-away newspaper, condoms etc. They use this kind of products to make a new-idea products. In addition, there are too many classes for children and youth whose families are poor. Most of these classes are technical classes, mechanic, electronic, cooking, haircut, beauty salons class for youth. And there are some classes which teach lesson to children and youth as well.

How can I help FRIEND org? I took FRIEND souvenirs from Toul Tom Purng market in order to sold these kinds of products to people. In my team, I divided into two team which had four people for each. I sold souvenirs around Kandale, Central, and Soriya market. I used COMMUNICATION skill in order to lobby people to buy those souvenirs. There was a hard task for me because I have not had enough experienced to be a sale person. Even though, I met that trouble but I did my best job. After selling, my team and other team gave all money, maybe around $300, to FRIEND’s CEO with extra money, maybe around $600.

we are dancing with children!!!!

we gave money to FRIEND org

What have I learned from this episode? Before, I had never to be a sale person on the street. This was my great new experiences that improve my communication skill, to be brave and clever.

Youth Leadership Challenge

Youth Leadership Challenge is one program organized by Youth Council of Cambodia, YCC, and cooperated with CTN, Cambodian Television Network, Cell Card, IRI and USAID. The purpose of this program is strengthening youth leadership skills and promoting youth to concern about bad points in our society that we need to solve it peacefully.

Of course, nearly two hundred applications apply to this great opportunity. And, importantly, there are three steps of candidate selection. First, they required all applications to stand in front of camera and answer question. Second, after passing the first step, we were interviewed in English and selected only 38 candidates. Third, final step, 38 candidates took part this program at CJCC, which locates in Institute of Foreign Language, in order to select only sixteen candidates. We were divided in four groups, played cheerful games. And then, we were interviewed by a well-known actor, Mr. CHEA Somnang, and Center of Social Development director, Ms. Theary SENG.

He He He… What a amazing, I and my friend, Ms. THENG Tith Maria, are in the sixteen candidates. At that day, I was a little feel nervous, but I believed in myself that I could do it. What make me believe in myself? Hhhhh, I looked this picture…..

Setting your goal, and try to do it. Even though, it is a hard work.

We will compete on the CTN TV……….
