Khmer Word

Sour Sdey means Hello in English. Cambodia always use this word when we meet each others. In fact, Sour Sdey is a short word which is from Arun Sour Sdey, which we use in the mornining time, Sayon Sour Sdey, which we use in the evenning time, and Reatrey Sour Sdey, which we use at night time. Thus, we generally say only word Sour Sdey.

Water festival is one of the biggest festivals in Cambodia. Normally, Cambodians celebrate this festival in three days, this year 23th 24th 25th November 2007. Of course, Phnom Pehn city is the place that we celebrate it. A lot of people come to Phnom Penh to watch boat race, concerts bratib(Khmer word) and buy some products. Wow!!! you know, I think over two million people visited Phnom Phnom in this year.

You know, coconut and banana are the common fruits for using in this event. Sometimes, we eat banana with Ambok(khmer word) or coconut with Ambok. Especially, in the second day of this festival, we do not sleep till midnight because we wait to eat Ambok with banana under the full moon and firework.

Actually, we have formed LRC learning group since 08 Sept 2007. Forming this group intially, Mr. Dy Dara, administrator in LRC, had a great idea that he want to establish this group. After that, he consulted with me, Ros Ratana, and Chesda. Consequently, we all accepted that idea, mean objectives, and later on we decided to make an announcement that we form this group.

The first day of group meeting, we had nine people. These people are qualified in English, they can speak English fluently. Importantly, that day all participants were active to participate in group activities.
